John Greaves

I joined the Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Careers Hub at the start of 2025 and have picked up a portfolio of schools across the region, providing support to Careers Leaders in achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure the best outcomes for students. In addition, I am supporting the various and ever growing number of projects the Hub are involved with.

I relocated to Devon over 20 years ago, to undertake a PGCE, before moving into Careers Guidance with Connexions and subsequently Careers South West. I am a Level 6 Guidance Trained professional, qualified in psychometric testing and after 11 years working as a careers adviser in schools, I spent 5 years at the University of Exeter, providing careers guidance, developing work experience opportunities and delivering employability projects. More recently I have been working for the charity Guide Dogs, supporting schools with children with VI, to ensure equity for this group.

I am sports mad, there’s very few sports I don’t follow, top of the list being my beloved Liverpool FC!  I’m often found out and about on a bike or walking in the Devon countryside, am an active member of CAMRA and volunteer at local beer festivals.
