Jo Skeel

I manage the Heart of the South West Careers Hub which includes Somerset, Devon, Plymouth & Torbay – 169 schools and colleges to be exact (so only a small patch!). My role includes covering all of the boring bits (but I love it!), strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, submitting reports, overseeing budgets, finding funding, bidding for bespoke projects, and generally having oversight of the fantastic team I have.

I have a degree in Criminology and after university I worked in Offender Learning & Skills. I then worked for the Learning & Skills Council/Education Skills Funding Agency, and the National Apprenticeship Service where I found a passion for vocational and technical education. Following this I moved into the National Careers Service and led on the ‘Inspiration Agenda’ for Greater Devon, bringing education and employers together. I joined the Careers Hub 4 years ago, with the last 12 months being its strategic Lead.

I enjoy playing netball, spending time with family and friends and travel…holidays are very important to me!
