Personal Guidance
Personal guidance is the one to one interaction that takes place between a student and their careers adviser.
Each student is entitled to a minimum of one session with a careers adviser before the age of 16 (End of Key Stage 4).
What does good look like?
- Careers Advisers must hold the relevant Level 6 qualification and deliver impartial advice to ensure that each student is progressing towards their next best step.
- Sessions should be planned in for when students are making significant study or career choices to ensure they have all the evidence they need to make educated decisions about their progression
- Students should also have the opportunity to have a further session by the age of 18 (End of Key Stage 5) if they remain in education.
- Students should be full prepared for their sessions and these should be followed up with an additional session to make sure they have fully understood everything that was discussed or if they require additional support.
- If students require additional sessions; they should be able to request these.
